Adrian Kelly is a distinguished conductor and opera leader, currently serving as Artistic Director of the Buxton International Festival and Head of the International Opera Studio at Zurich Opera House. Formerly First Kapellmeister at the Salzburg Landestheater, he has conducted for Zurich Opera, the Salzburg Festival, and Central City Opera, collaborating with such conductors as Antonio Pappano and Simone Young.

A graduate of the University of Cambridge and alumnus of the Royal Opera House Young Artists Programme, Adrian began his career at the Hamburg State Opera. His work spans major international stages, and he is widely recognised for his deep commitment to mentoring and developing emerging operatic talent.

Christoph Boehmke studied Political Science and graduated from the Hamburg University of Music with a Master of Arts in Cultural and Media Management.

 

He has held a number of senior positions across leading European institutions, including Head of the Academies and Personal Advisor to the Intendant of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, where he conducted more than 4,500 auditions for young opera singers worldwide. He later served as Head of the Artistic Operations Office at the Tyrolean Festival and as Head of Audience Development at the Hamburg State Opera, before becoming Head of the International Opera Studio in 2018. Since 2020, he has been responsible for Bayer AG’s corporate cultural engagement, and since 2025 he has served as the company’s Head of Citizenship & Culture.

Application Requirements

Applications must include:

  1. Two recent videos of you singing arias or songs, recorded within the last year.

  2. Your CV, including date of birth, residency, citizenship, education, email address, and WhatsApp number.

Eligibility

Applications are open to opera singers and pianist-accompanists aged 18–30.
Application and participation are free of charge.
A professional pianist will be provided for all sessions.

​

What to Expect

By 23 October, all applicants will receive a decision on their application.
Accepted participants will receive detailed information about the schedule and venue of the masterclasses.

The masterclasses will run daily from 10:00 to 18:00 between 27–31 October (unless agreed otherwise).
Each participant will receive individual one-to-one coaching sessions and take part in group sessions open to all.
