Biography

Nora Sourouzian is an internationally recognised mezzo-soprano whose career spans leading opera houses across Europe, North America, and Asia. Of Franco-Canadian background and Armenian descent, she is celebrated for her commanding stage presence, rich vocal colour, and dramatic intensity. She has appeared as a guest artist at major institutions including Seattle Opera, Royal Danish Opera, Teatro Massimo, and Komische Oper Berlin, with forthcoming engagements in Graz (Les Contes d’Hoffmann) and Bilbao in Verdi repertoire.
Her portrayal of Carmen has become a defining role, performed in over twenty productions worldwide, from Paris and Cardiff to Oslo and Tokyo. Her repertoire further encompasses some of the most demanding dramatic mezzo roles, including Azucena, Eboli, Amneris, and Charlotte. Alongside her operatic career, Nora is a distinguished concert and recital artist, particularly admired for her interpretations of French mélodie and late-Romantic repertoire, bringing depth and refinement to works by Berlioz, Mahler, and other composers of the 19th and 20th centuries.
